Pyrata (2008)

.
David's been directing animated TV series, developing projects, and teaching, mostly in Bangkok, Thailand, for the last year or two, with the nice people at The Monk Studio.

"Pyrata," the second season in the 'Paddle Pop Lion' TV series franchise to give him a 3D makeover, was completed in July, 2008. We produced 49 minutes (7 episodes x 7 minutes each) of animation in 6 months, including English writing and pre-production, with a team of 40 Thai artists. Distribution was Asia-Pacific, and later, Europe.

Milkdrop commercials

Singing, dancing, Spanish-language commercials, featuring Mr. Milkdrop, a happy-go-lucky mariachi. I assisted the director Steve Martino with character visual development, doing sketches and pose sheets from his design.

In 3D I helped to rig the model with Orie Hegre and the Click3x LA team, and did character development test animations in Softimage. We wanted to make the character look flexible, liquidy, and free-form on a fast commercial schedule, without building blend-shape models. So a shape-it-as-you-go rig was built. We then animated the shots, comped and edited them into the live action. These are just my shots.
